The 5 of us, Dorothy, Dana, Leslie, Grant & I, all met on June 21 at Spanish Creek Campground near us in Quincy. We were greeted by a thunder storm and downpour as we explored a limestone/travertine quarry that is sacred to the Maidu Indians. We had great food, prepared by all, and ate birthday cake in memory of Uncle Dana, who's birthday was the 21st. It was a really fun time. As it turns out, the thunder storm had lots of lightning strikes and many fires were set that Saturday, including the Cold Fire near Quincy and the big fires down the Canyon.
